Yeast Infection Diet

With around 75% of women and many men and children developing a yeast infection at sometime in their lives, few may believe that a correct “yeast infection friendly” diet can be of significant benefit.

Perhaps a better term for a yeast infection friendly diet would be Detoxing. By detoxing your body you enable the balance of fungus growth to be maintained, thus preventing overgrowth which will lead to yeast infections.

One of the fundamentals of any detoxing program is to ensure that you consume plenty of water. Indeed water consumption will help to flush the toxins from your body. Fresh fruit juice and even green tea are useful alternatives to drinking just water, but you really should try and drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.

Eating plenty of fresh, unprocessed foods is also vitally important. Try and avoid processed foods and foods that are high in fat. This will not only benefit your fight against yeast infections but will also be better for your long term health. When cooking vegetables, don’t overcook them, as this will result in the food losing a high percentage of its natural nutrients. Try steaming or sautéed vegetables as an alternative to boiling them. Also when it comes to vegetable selection, try not to eat too many sweet vegetables such as carrots, corn, potatoes, onions and sweet potatoes.

Garlic can be of great benefit in the fight against yeast infections, it contains antibacterial properties which help in preventing yeast overgrowth, so eat plenty of garlic.

Other foods good at preventing candida overgrowth are natural yoghurts, brown rice and buckwheat.

When it comes to condiments, sea salt is ok in moderation. Pure virgin olive oil is great and can be used liberally, as can fresh ginger, which contains many properties to help fight yeast infections naturally.

So in short by drinking plenty of water and watching what you eat you can not only help your body to fight yeast infections, but you can also greatly reduce the risk of further infections.
