Chronic Yeast Infection

There are some unfortunate people who suffer with chronic yeast infections. These persistent yeast infections can be difficult to overcome, despite there being a huge variety of over the counter treatments available, and can reoccur without warning.

Often sufferers of isolated yeast infections can easily treat their condition at home, those with chronic yeast infections have to be a lot more careful, and often specific medical advice and treatment will be necessary.

If you are self treating a chronic yeast infection then care will be needed, as the substances used can produce side effects, or can cause an allergic reaction in some people. If you are self treating then keep a record of what you have used and taken, as this will help if you do suffer from any adverse side effects or allergic reactions.

If you think you are suffering from a chronic yeast infection then it would be a good idea to seek the advice of a certified medical professional.

So why do chronic yeast infections occur ? A weakened immune system is a common contributory factor, this could be as a result of an illness, such as HIV or AIDS, or could be as a result of chemotherapy treatment.

Another common cause of chronic yeast infections is the taking of antibiotics. It is all too easy for a simple course of antibiotics to upset the delicate balance of bacteria within your body, which in turn can easily lead to excessive yeast production.

Other causes are more related to your lifestyle. This means that you may be suffering from stress or maybe eating an unhealthy diet, or possibly both. Either of these can be factors in encouraging excessive candida growth within your body.

Prolonged and continued use of hygiene products can also encourage yeast growth, particularly those products that contain flavourings, colors and scents. This can even include using simple soaps.

In short, if you are prone to yeast infections then you need to take stock of your lifestyle, and address the issues within your body that are leading to chronic yeast infections.
